Title. A story from maga.place showed up on my feed. Thank you.
As Skua mentioned, we don’t have many defederated instances. In fact, we only really have one (lemmynsfw), as the other two instances are dead and were just causing federation issues. You may notice some of the other somewhat controversial instances are not defederated either, like lemmy.ml or lemmygrad.ml or threads.net (I’m sure there’s more, but I don’t keep track). I treat defederation as a last resort, as I don’t want to be the one to curate people’s content when users can do that on their own.
I’m not sure what your workflow is, but I would recommend rather than viewing “All” that you use “Subcribed” and only subscribe to the magazines you like. Or do you already use the subscribed view and a user from maga.place posted in a magazine you subscribed to?
Thanks so much for your reply! I understand and normally wouldn’t complain, as I’ve tried to converse in other conservative spaces just to know my neighbors that were actually not spoiled by the conservatives, but by others. I have my own reasons for this particular server I don’t want to go into, here, at this time. I actually commend you for not premptively blocking instances. If I could have sorted how to do it personally rather than asking about it, I would have done that, but barring that, I will have to sort out something else.
Thanks again for all your great work and kindness.
This instance has a sum total of three defederated instances, so I don’t know how likely it is that one will be added to the list. I know there is a “domains” page int eh “blocked” part of our settings, which implies to me that we can indeed block domains, but I actually have no idea how to do that
That said, god damn that is one sad-looking instance over there lmao. Rule 2 is frankly hilarious given the context
but I actually have no idea how to do that
Here’s some example pages:
Importantly, these work the same as on Reddit, they’re about the link destination, not where a post is made. So blocking
lemmy.worldactually blocks all posts linking to lemmy.world, not those made there. An exception is text posts, which for the purpose of this feature, are considered as linking to the instance they’re made on.These pages also don’t exist if no such post has been federated yet, so maga.place doesn’t seem to have a domain page yet.
Ahh, thank you! I suppose it makes makes to tag @Maeve@kbin.earth in case they miss it too
Thanks
Thank you.
