This might be a heavy read so if you’re not in the mood for that I understand

Hey everyone,

I’ve been debating posting this for a while, and I figure now is as good a time as any. I hope this post can help others who went through this. I’m a Christian. Me being a mod here and posting here, you’d expect that, but this is open_christian@lemmy.ca. Not getting into it much; I’m a part of the open part. Being attacked from both sides hurts and can be scary. People of your faith hate you for who you are, and people of your community hate your faith. A number of years ago I had a religious crisis. My faith hurt; it was weak. I was afraid I was wrong as a human. I almost lost faith. I came back, however. In the strangest way, but a good way. It was a number of things that brought me back. Communities like this on Reddit. Seeing people who were of my same faith but loved everyone and didn’t hate their fellow man for how they were born. They didn’t hate; they talked about the good and the bad. They had memes, which made me smile; they offered help and didn’t judge, and I found real people that made me feel better about who I was. I saw depictions of faith, which turned me back towards the light. This part might be a bit corny, but I want to tell my full story. I was and still am a huge Fallout: New Vegas fan. Joshua Graham did a lot of good for me. A man who went to the worst, darkest parts of humanity and turned to God to do better. “You’re a good neighbor to us. We all go through periods of darkness. In such times, we can turn to the Lord, but it’s good to have friends.” Quotes like this helped. Gabriel Stokes from The Walking Dead is a good one too. I’m not going to spoil anything if you haven’t seen his story yet, but he went from a weak man to a strong man and kept his faith. John Ward from Faith: The Unholy Trinity was an awesome character as well.

If you’ve made it this far, you’ve made it to the end of my rant. Thanks for reading, and I hope it could help if you’re going through dark times as well. Always remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. It may be different for you than it was for me, but there will be light and hope.
