I always used 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1. Not sure how privacy friendly they are, but probably miles more than 8.8.8.8
Oh no, you!

43, here. Based on anecdotal evidence I’m disputing your second statement, and confirming the third.
By the way, imma be a crane driver when I grow up.
My country’s “evil socialist healthcare dystopia” is far from perfect, but I wouldn’t want it any other way.
I didn’t learn wtf “copay” was until last year.
I remember seeing the fox news manufactured outrage about “death panels” when Obama care was the big talking point an eternity ago. I always found it hard to understand how that’s not an apt description of a hospital board of directors with a profit incentive.

For roughly three milliseconds I thought to myself they shoulda used solar panels instead.
“Oh, wait…”

Not disputing your claim, as it doesn’t surprise me at all, but I’m curious: What are “the worst right wing instances” ?
I haven’t paid enough attention to notice any instances with a consistent and noticeable right-wing lean.

I don’t know for sure, but I think so. And I’m a naturally curious person about these things, so I try to frame it in a way different from their looks, such as “That’s an interesting name… where’s it from?”.
I’ve never seen an octopus spell “no” either. Presumably due to Black Swan effect.
To be fair, pelted by silt and rocks is the actual no - octopi can’t speak.

And if it’s something you don’t really care about, they’re meticulous or pedantic.

Got home from a work trip, so my GF and I are continuing Resident Alien.
While out and about i watched Jackass 3 while having a few moments to waste.

And the UFO nuts are going to be disappointed by this nothingburger release to the point where they start demanding the REAL files. What will be the next distraction?

Yup. Another aspect of this is that I sometimes find myself in a conversation with someone (it’s happened here on Lemmy too) about something technical. I might tell them about an approach that I might use, or my preference, mostly just making conversation, and the reply isn’t conversational at all, it’s argumentative and sometimes even confrontational or combative.
Luckily Lemmy allows for tagging these people so that I won’t bother making conversation with these again. I usually tag these people after shutting down the “discussion” with something like “No, I will not address what you said. I was making conversation, you were after a debate that you could win. I am not interested in typing just to feed your ego, so I see no point in resuming this thread”

This, plus it helps to keep in mind that it’s not your responsibility to educate people even if they’re objectively wrong. Nor is it your responsibility to change the mind of people with garbage opinions.
When someone is argumentative, they are rarely after an actual conversation, or even a debate. They’re after an interaction they can win.
They are not entitled to your engagement.
I’ve been on laptops for the past 20 years, exclusively for 15, so whenever the laptop is replaced. But before that, I only replaced monitors when they died. And those old CRTs were built like tanks.
The only exception is when I upgraded my old 16" (or was it 15" ?) to a 19". My old monitor became a secondary screen for background stuff such as music player and IRC.

Seconding DCC from Soundbooth Theater.
I find it hilarious that it’s not always clear where the book ends and the Soundbooth Theater ad starts. I was laughing out loud at the characters recording clips about human culture while also doing ad reads for Soundbooth Theater.

Lol, says the person copypasting instead of actually writing anything of substance. Do better. Find something to actually enjoy. You’d be much happier for it too, instead of wallowing in your own misery.

I am by no metric an expert, hell I am barely proficient, as I found a recipe online after I got back from Malaysia, but it’s somewhat simple. It just takes a lot of time and a lot of ingredients that isn’t easy to find where I live.

Rendang
Used to eat it as often as I could when I visited southeast asia
I love that episode where the Fraggles decide not to eat the structures anymore. The result is that Doozers somehow succumb to poverty as they can’t work anymore. So instead they turn to knitting.
Later their usual song of how building and construction is the best thing in the world has been replaced by different lyrics about how knitting is the best thing in the world.
At the end when the Fraggles eat the structures again, the Doozers of course go back to building. Things go back to normal pretty quickly, and their usual building-song is back to how construction is the best thing in the world. But they’re all wearing knitted scarves.
Fraggle Rock taught me the concept of ecosystems better than any science teacher ever could
