The Tankies are pretty conservative, even if they’ll never admit it.

92·22 hours agoYou were taught wrong. It’s from how the glass was made, and sometimes it’s thicker on top, or on the sides, depending on how it was installed. Glass doesnt sag.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: Due to a statistical error, undocumented immigration will ALWAYS increase the official crime rate, even if they commit fewer crimes than natural citizens.
2·2 days agoUsing your logic, I could drive to the next town over commit some crimes and have the same effect.
Correct. It’s pretty well known that this skew per capita statics in small-scale analyses. It’s also why you shouldn’t do per-capita analysis on very local scales

15·2 days agoIn the US our census counts residents, not citizens.
No. It counts residents who cooperate with the census. Guess what undocumented immigrants won’t be doing?
Going door to door to count people is a terrible method of kering track of people, which is why most places stopped doing that, using running registries instead. It’s pretty stunning that the US only has the vaguest concept of who lives there.
Apparently not, since the us “blockade” just lets everyone pass

5·3 days agoI don’t think Dragon has 200m/s when it also has to push the entire ISS. Dragon’s “Boost Trunk” provided a whopping ~1.5m/s to the ISS late last year, and that thing is about as big as the Dragon capsule itself.

14·4 days agoThe US would already have been in recession if it wasn’t pumping hundreds of billions into the hugely unprofitable AI bubble.
This recent blockade at Hormuz is another move to pump the US economy, since the US produces a lot of oil, and is also selling at the very high market rate.
That regular people are paying for it is just annoying details.

5·4 days agoRumours? The US is already reneging on deliveries because it’s stockpiles are depleted. Launching billions upon billions of dollars of hightech missiles at Iran punched a huge hole in the US stockpiles, to relatively little effect.
The Iran war had the same problem as Vietnam. You can’t use a million dollar weapon to take out a ten thousand dollar weapon and expect long-term success. So the Trump government did what they do best, and tried to solve the problem by making the same mistake more rapidly and at greater scale.
We need pre-dreadnaught land battleships. Forget mobility. Forget intelligently intercepting weapons.
Just slap on more guns and more armor, and crawl inexorably towards the enemy.

Absolutely, there are thousands of cultivars that were created via mutagenesis (and all of them qualify for organic food, because this isn’t GMO for some reason)
But quite few followed the old “chuck some cobalt in a circle of crops and see what happens” method they used for grapefruit.
