Sorry I ended up writing a lot.

I looked this up the other day and from what I could find from a brief Google search experts cant seem to agree what the best solution is.

Some site exactly what the person you were replying to mentioned. That Russia uses it as a method to try and take over more countries. But other experts also agree that removal of any possible pawns from a pointless war would ensure that it could end sooner and with less bloodshed.

It said currently there are a number of organizations trying to help people sent to fight escape the war and surrender without having to lose their lives. Theres also organizations trying to help people flee the country to avoid the war entirely. It feels like they’re stuck trying to avoid their government and also stuck because most places do not want them.

I also had come across a youtube channel last year sometime where a Russian man who had left Russia explained why many of us make the wrong assumptions about Russian people and what we think they would do or how they would act.

Long story short his explanation was that Russian people are in a state of constant oppression and trauma whether they realize it or not and that their entire society is based around bribery and what you can provide for someone.

The explanations really opened my eyes to the scale of the issue. Not only do you have a massive population, but most are living under completely different rules with a very different deck of cards than the rest of the world. When you have adults who have lived under such conditions their entire lives I imagine it also makes it difficult to move and integrate into a different society. I feel badly for all of them really. Its just such a massive scale of people, inhave no idea of how to even approach the issue. I would like to assume most of the people fleeing are doing so because they do not believe in mindless bloodshed. Its just super unfortunate

I’ve been wanting to make a collection, but ironically now as storage solutions are becoming more expensive I’m between a rock and a hard place. I could spend the stupid prices for more hard drive space and then grab more. Alternatively I could take some existing smaller hard drives and use them for storage.

If I hadn’t gotten laid off last month I likely would have just expanded while things are still (relatively) affordable. But idk now. I might just stretch things where I can and hope that the bubble pops sooner rather than later

Right now my idea is to store things i find that are more niche or less likely to be shared in the future and i’ll cycle things that are more popular or that will stand the test of time

Thats interesting. It makes sense I suppose. I wonder if that can be tackled to some extent to try and keep places up beat

I havent used one personally, but my girlfriend has stated that once Google took over fitbit, the whole service took a nosedive in quality. So your milage may vary

I’m at my wits end and need to figure out an off ramp to get out of my current job. I can’t sleep well, or think straight. I had a week off not long ago and it was nice but I didnt feel rejuvenated. It’s genuinely refreshing to see messaging like this when I feel like I’m slowly losing my mind. It’s just nice knowing I’m not alone

Honestly if you could find some nice people to chat with and have a coherent discussion with, it could be kinda fun. I guess it depends if you’re working in a hell cubicle or from home though

This is why I’m nervous about going back to school too. I’ve seen people find out their professors are just using AI and it feels so…gross. You pay a lot for school! What’s the point if it’s all just phoned in? And then to top it off you aren’t guaranteed a good job afterwards even if you do well.

I wish there was a better solution to all of this because I would like to change my life trajectory as I’ve grown tired in my current position
