  • There’s a few things you can do and they work differently for everybody. Just letting the thought pass through your mind is one way. You hear the thought. You react to it in short fashion. Nothing more than ‘huh, weird,’ or ‘strange,’ or ‘next thought please,’ then let the next thought come to you. Don’t dwell on it. If you do that’s when you get trapped and your whole day can go down the toilet.

Another thing you can do is physically change your environment. Go to a different room. Go outside. Go for a walk. Your mind will take in every change that occurs to your environment sort of forcing you to flush the previous train of thought.

Listen to music. It’s simple but it works.

There was something that happened a while ago that made all the tech influencers look kinda silly in regards to Linux. I’ll never forget this comment on one of the videos around the kerfuffle. ‘All these computer experts have just been downgraded to Windows influencers.’ It’s so true how they can tell you all the inner workings of a Windows machine and the moment they try Linux their expertise just falls apart.

  • More coding itself. I like figuring out the minutia of it. I settled on C for now. Maybe a switch to Zig once that settles down it’s development. I grabbed a few textbooks and read through them. I picked up linked lists and trees and the neat stuff you can to with that. The game is an end goal but building up the tool box is more of a skill I want to nourish now. The idea of writing my own engine is very intriguing too.

  • Coding. Why did it have to be coding? I’m not good at it. Everything I’ve read about it makes little sense. The tiny bit of coding I do get needs to be reinforced 1000 times over. So far I’ve made some triangles and my terminal spout some shit out. Nothing fancy. Yet in the back of my mind I’m gonna make a fucking video game one day and all this confusion and struggling will pay off.

  • At the Drive-In - Literally the hot shit of late 00s and early 10s done in the mid 90s. They were so ahead of their time it’s a shame they kinda get lost being inspiration for what came later. They totally deserved to be the focal point.

Converge - I was always aware of them. They were kind of just another band at the time they were at their best. Then I really got into them this past year. I totally wish I could have fully appreciated them when we were younger. Going to one of their early shows would have been a highlight of my life.

Nine Inch Nails - I just never gave them a proper chance until the past few years. They totally deserve their reputation. Their stuff is awesome.
